After studying architecture at the University of Southern California. I served a two year apprenticeship with Richard Neutra, FAIA.
Detouring into construction, I worked with my father’s firm building hospital, medical, commercial and industrial buildings as a superintendent and project manager. I then spent 5 years with Tishman Realty and Construction Company as a project manager developing office interiors.
I started my own construction company in 1976, completing over 400 projects in the Los Angeles area over a 12-year period. I built many projects by noted architects including Richard Dorman, Carl Maston and Frank Gehry including the Gehry residence.
I started doing design/build projects in 1985, shortly before moving to Northern California, where I discontinued functioning as a general contractor with the exception of those projects designed by me.
Recently, I have discontinued the construction phase altogether and am concentrating my efforts solely on design.
